Hornaday Award Weekend Information

Whether you are interested in just earning merit badges or beginning your journey to earn the prestigious Hornaday Award, the Hornaday Award Weekend is an experience that you will make an annual event. Each Weekend includes professional instructors for the twenty Hornaday conservation merit badges and Hornaday project management guidance.

Every Scout will have the opportunity to earn up to four merit badges while receiving recognition for their achievements throughout the weekend! There is something for adults too! Scouters have the opportunity to receive professional instruction in Leave No Trace and Project Wild conducted by Texas Parks and Wildlife and other BSA certifications.

The Hornaday Award Weekend provides all of the tools necessary for a weekend of ongoing recognition and achievement. Scouts attending their first Hornaday Weekend will receive a logo'd shoulder bag, a professional portfolio designed for conservation project organization and a fully embroidered patch commemorating the Hornaday Weekend.

All participants have their meals prepared and served in the dining hall by the OA Tonkawa Lodge 99 Vigil Honor kitchen in recognition that having fun is the most important ingredient to this Scouting experience which is like no other the Scouts have experienced!
